Disappointing (to put it kindly): our comments on the fifth UAP congressional hearing

The fifth congressional hearing on UAP was held this week, on Tuesday 9th September 2025. This is the third UAP hearing from the House Oversight Committee and comes less than a year after the last one. It was disappointing, to put it kindly.

Chairwoman Anna Paulina Luna’s opening remarks were good enough. But the five “witnesses” were, overall, poor.

Many would consider George Knapp to have been the “star of the show”. He is, after all, personable, as well as knowledgeable about “ufology” of which he’s been a prominent player for almost 40 years. And he’s a life-long professional TV and radio presenter, extremely comfortable speaking to any audience. However, his opening statement was rambling, overshooting the specified time, and he had to be politely cut short by Luna. Most worrying is George Knapp’s close association with the Bob Lazar story. If anyone still believes that Lazar is, or might be, telling the truth, we would refer them to our in-depth article: Bob Lazar’s “S-4” claims cannot be trusted - and here’s why. Whereas George Knapp has reluctantly acknowledged the gross discrepancies in Lazar’s educational background, he has consistently failed to report the many other extremely worrying aspects of Lazar’s life at the time, which are officially documented and therefore beyond doubt. Knapp’s career has supposedly been all about “investigative journalism”, yet it has been woefully lacking regarding Bob Lazar.

Jeffrey Nuccetelli, a retired US Air Force policeman, was not a firsthand witness to whatever his colleagues at Vandenberg Air Force Base might have seen between 2003 and 2005. He claims he has seen an unknown light in the night sky at his home, and admits he has long been a believer in UFOs. His testimony added nothing new.

Alexandro Wiggins, still serving with the US Navy, recounted his experience of seeing four unknown objects, on screen and with his own eyesight, on the evening of February 15th 2023 off the coast of southern California whilst serving aboard the USS Jackson. He initially claimed that the first unknown object had “emerged from the ocean”. Later, when carefully questioned by the respectful and sympathetic Representative Eli Crane, a former Navy SEAL, Wiggins admitted that it was only his impression that the first object might have appeared from the sea and this could not actually be determined by the ship’s sensors. Again, although this incident might be noteworthy, it didn’t add anything new.

Dylan Borland, another of the witnesses, was an analyst at Langley Air Force Base in 2012 and claims to have seen an unknown triangular craft in the middle of the night. He described himself as a whistleblower who has been unfairly treated, to the extent of being currently unemployed. To us, he appeared somewhat unstable. His testimony was contradictory. He seemed, at one point, to be stating that what he saw was manmade, perhaps with the implied suggestion of it possibly being linked with reverse-engineered alien technology. When asked what evidence he had found most convincing about the UFO/UAP subject, he replied “Bob Lazar”. This point was hardly a sound analytical judgement. (We again refer the reader to our article as mentioned above.)

Joe Spielberger represents an organisation advocating the strengthening of whistleblowers’ rights. He added nothing new regarding UAP.

Two of the committee members, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and Congresswoman Summer Lee, were blatantly using this hearing to make cheap political points unconnected with the UAP topic. Their contribution to the specified proceedings was exactly zero, questioning the claim that this was a rare example of “bipartisan unity”. We are a British organisation, based in the UK, with an interest in the current US administration solely based on psychological attitude and its impact on capability. The behaviour of Crockett and Lee during this calendar year to date, in general, has been unbecoming of any serious politician. If an advanced extraterrestrial civilisation is observing our planet, they must despair at our low level of civilisation.

A video was introduced during the hearing of an unknown object, fired upon and struck by an AGM-114 Hellfire missile shot from a MQ-9 Reaper remotely-piloted aircraft, on October 30th 2024 off the coast of Yemen. To us, any excitement or claim of this being unusual, would seem to be premature and we think there will likely be a conventional explanation found. There needs to be expert analysis. The target seemingly didn’t explode, but was damaged, with the Hellfire missile appearing to pass through. (Just before publication, our colleague Victoria alerted us to an article by Avi Loeb. Avi is logically suggesting that the unknown object was probably a Samad drone fired by the Houthis, and that bits of it were broken off on impact without triggering the detonation of the Hellfire’s warhead. The Samad drones are supplied by Iran.)

Representative Eric Burlison has been interested but sceptical throughout these hearings. It was therefore disappointing to hear him mention two individuals: Steven Greer and Michael Herrera. Eric, if you or one of your staff read this, please see our article: https://www.evolvefirst.org/uap/are-these-three-whistleblowers-jason-sands-mike-herrera-and-jake-barber-telling-the-truth

Eric Burlison has employed David Grusch to help point him in the right direction of potential witnesses involved in some claimed “legacy program” for reverse-engineering of “recovered craft” from elsewhere. Bold claims have been previously made. Where were these witnesses? Burlison is undoubtedly being genuine when he said towards the end of this week’s hearing “If you’re frustrated, so are we” - but, again, where are the promised firsthand witnesses? There has been more than sufficient time.

We’ll continue to follow this on-going saga because Representatives Anna Paulina Luna, Eric Burlison, Eli Crane, Tim Burchett, and perhaps a few others are serious about transparency and accountability. We’re convinced there are unknown craft from elsewhere - and who wouldn’t observe us if it was technologically possible? We are far from sure about suggestions that the US authorities and/or the military-industrial complex have exotic technology from beyond our planet, although the claim of James T Lacatski should definitely be investigated.
